Dioon spinulosum Giant Dioon Cycad

Cycad Requirements

Giant Dioon Cycad prefers  full sun but an irrigation bubbler line will need to be installed with at least 1 good soaking per week during dry season. This dioon prefers alkaline to neutral, well-drained soils and full sun. It has a slight salt and cold tolerance but is happiest in warm soil with a little bit of limestones in its composition.

Cycad Description

The tallest member of its species, the Giant Dioon Cycad can tower at 40 feet overall, which it reaches at a moderate pace. Its petioles are toothed and slightly curved, a warm shade of green and rigid. Dioon spinulosum is a unique and low maintenance alternative to a shrub, in terms of size and placement.

Our plants are pest and disease free.  Regular hand watering or single tree emitter irrigation are required to keep your plants alive for the first year.

Lawn Irrigation and rainfall will not be sufficient for watering.  Your palm trees will require fertilization to maintain healthy growth.
